THE FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL

[The girls are on the way to school]: 

 Nga, it’s finally here! 

Yeah! Look, Daisy, I got a new backpack. 

Cool. I’m using my sister’s old one. But that’s okay. 

I can’t wait to go back to Chu Van An Primary School. And meet our teacher, Miss Gray. It such a nice name. It rhymes with day, play, May.... all great words! 

My sister says Miss Gray is very nice and really pretty. 

 I bet she lets us sit next to each other! COME ON! LET’S RUN! 

[The boys are on the way to school]: 

Come on! It’s the first day of school, Ben! 

Yes, I can’t wait for it. It’s going to be great! 

What’s our teacher’s name? I keep forgetting. 

And I keep telling you, Ba! It’s Miss Gray. 

Oh, right. Gray, like a gloomy day¹. 

I don’t think so. I bet she has a pretty face. 

[At school]: 

 So who’s your teacher, Nga?        It’s Miss Gray. 

She’s really nice and really pretty. She has long black hair. 

That’s right! She looks attractive ² like a Hollywood star. 

Mr. Joe: Welcome back, everyone. It’s time to line up³ with your class. Make a straight line, kids. Here comes your teacher!
